Alnefelt, Brännstam, and Nybeck are U18 World Champions

Hugo Alnefelt, Alex Brännstam, and Zion Nybeck can now call themselves champions after winning gold with Sweden at the U18 World Championships in

Nybeck recorded two goals and three assists, while Brännstam had one assist. Alnefelt stood in goal for five games and ended the tournament with a .921 SVS% and a GAA of 2.75.

Lars Haugen Wins EBEL Gold

Congratulations are in order for Lars Haugen, as Klagenfurter AC won EBEL gold this past week.

In addition, Haugen was named the best goalie of the series and playoffs as a whole, and was named to the EBEL All-Star Team.

The 32-year-old Norwegian recorded a .944 SVS% and a GAA of 1.50 throughout the 14 playoffs games played.

Erik Thorell Signs With EV Zug

After spending the past three season in Liiga with TPS and HIFK, Erik Thorell is ready for a new opportunity — in Switzerland.

The 27-year-old forward has recently signed a two-year contract with EV Zug of the NLA.

”With his character, his speed, his intensive playing and his finishing qualities, he exactly meets our requirements,” said GM Reto Kläy of acquiring Thorell. (Erik Thorell Will Play For EV Zug Next Season)

Thorell ended this past season with 24 goals and 25 assists (49 points) in 47 games played.

Thorell will join fellow countrymen Carl Klingberg and Pontus Widerström (EVZ Academy).

Linus Sandin Signs With HV71

Just one day after scoring his very first goal for the Swedish National Team, Linus Sandin has signed a two-year contract with HV71.

Linus is a player we’ve been following for last two years,” said Johan Hult, GM for HV71, in the team’s press release. ”He is a technical and modern right-wing forward with both offensive and defensive qualities.”

The 22-year-old forward has had quite the season this year, from tallying 23 points with Rögle BK to making his Tre Kronor debut to now signing with his second SHL team.

Henrik Haukeland Signs With KooKoo

After spending this past season in Liiga with TPS, Henrik Haukeland has now signed a one-year contract with KooKoo.

The 24-year-old Norwegian goaltender played 26 games for TPS, recording a GAA of 2.19 and a .914 SVS%. Haukeland also participated in last year’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, as well as represented Norway in the past two IIHF World Championships.

Ersson To Make Tre Kronor Debut

After having an outstanding first season in Allsvenskan with Västerås IK, Samuel Ersson has been invited to make his Tre Kronor debut ahead of the IIHF World Championships.

This season, Ersson led Västerås to 27 wins out of his 36 starts, and wound up with a 1.95 GAA and .933 SVS%. The Falun born goaltender was also a standout for Sweden at this year’s IIHF World Junior Championships in Vancouver/Victoria.
