Zion Nybeck, Theo Nordlund, and Emil Andrae have all been chosen to Sweden’s roster for the upcoming World U17 Hockey Challenge, taking place Nov. 3-10 in New Brunswick.
Sweden will be taking on Finland, Canada Red, and Russia in the preliminary round.
Adam Åhman and Samuel Ersson may be young, but they are already proving their talents in their first year playing Allsvenskan hockey. Both goaltenders are currently ranked as the top two goalies in the league.
Åhman,19, holds the number one spot with 123 saves and a .976 save percentage in just four games played with IK Oskarshamn. Ersson, 18, comes in at number two with a .964 save percentage, stopping 81 of 84 shots in his three games played with Västerås IK.
Erik Thorell has been named Liiga’s Player of the Month for the month of September.
In the month of September, the 26-year-old forward has recorded six goals and four assists in seven games played.
In an article posted to HIFK’s official website, it’s stated that ”[Thorell] was the best scorer and point-maker in the league in September. Thorell’s defensive game was also strong.” The article continued on to say that Thorell’s ”toughest challengers” for player of the month were KooKoo’s Miikka Pitkänen and SaiPa’s Tyler Morley.
Thorell will be rewarded with a bronze medal at the Helsinki Ice Stadium on October 4th.
After having an impressive camp with the Buffalo Sabres, Alex Nylander has officially been assigned to the Rochester Americans of the AHL.
Nylander recorded five points in three games during this year’s Prospect Challenge, finishing second in the tournament for points. Following that, the skilled winger tallied four points in five games during the preseason.
This will be his third season with the Americans.

Defenceman Axel Andersson will be loaned to Södertälje SK from Djurgården IF for the rest of the 2018-2019 season.
Andersson played for SSK U16 and J18 before he left to play for DIF two seasons ago.
”It feels fantastic,” said Andersson in an interview with Fredrik Gustavell, SSK’s communication manager. ”It’s fun to be here and a special feeling with SSK. I’m going to do everything to play as well as I can and help the team.”
