Sandin’s AHL Success

Rasmus Sandin is having a stellar first AHL season so far.

In the Toronto Marlies 7-2 victory against the Manitoba Moose yesterday, Sandin recorded one goal and one assist.

The 18-year-old defenseman now has nine points (five goals, four assists) in 17 games, making him second in the league for rookie defencemen in goals and the leading scorer among Marlies defensemen — all despite missing the first nine games of the season.

Emil Andrae and Hugo Alnefelt to Participate in U18 Elite Camp

Defenseman Emil Andrae and goalie Hugo Alnefelt have been chosen to participate in Tre Kronor’s U18 elite camp, taking place Dec. 12-15 in Falun, Sweden.

As stated on swehockey.se,

The purpose of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s camp activity is to identify and develop our most talented youth and junior players. The training is both practical and theoretical in the following subjects: individual techniques, individual tactics, hockey athletics, nutrition, competition, fair play and respect and the national team’s game idea. The camp also consists of three games. The goal is for participants to become aware of what is required of them to become elite players.”

The Wait Is Over

William Nylander has signed a six-year contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After missing a total of 26 games with the club, Nylander’s cap hit will be $10.2 million for the remainder of the current season, and $6.9 million in years two through six.

The 22-year-old forward has played two full seasons with the Maple Leafs, recording 61 points in each.

7-Point Night For Zion Nybeck

Zion Nybeck had quite the night this past Sunday, recording six goals and one assist in HV71 J20’s 9-1 win against Färjestad.

”It is definitely unique,” said head coach Jonas Holmström to Hockeymagasinet in regards to Nybeck’s point wave.

So far this season, the 2002-born Alvesta native has played nine games for HV71 J18, racking up six goals and four assists, and nine games for Sweden U17, recording 6 points throughout two international tournaments.

The Hunter is Back

The Hunter is Back

After playing 16 games in the AHL for the Hershey Bears, Axel Jonsson Fjällby is back in Stockholm, Sweden, making his return to the SHL and Djurgården IF.

”To play at Hovet is the most exciting thing there is,” said Fjällby about his comeback in an interview posted to DIF’s official website. ”Now I’m going to do whatever it takes to win SM gold.”
