Axel Andersson continues to be a standout for the Boston Bruins, scoring his first preseason goal — the game-tying one, at that — in their 4-3 OT loss to the Detroit Red Wings last night.
“I was so happy when it went in,” said Andersson to the media afterwards. ”[Zdeno] Chara came to me and said ‘you deserve it kid’…He’s kind of a mentor. He’s really good with me. It was awesome.”
Despite taking a bit of a beating and having to get 18 stitches due to cuts on his arm and nose, Andersson claims that ”it was fun” and his goal made it all worth it. The youngster’s efforts also earned him praise from head coach Bruce Cassidy.
”He’s got lots of will,” said Cassidy in a post-game interview. ”He wants the puck, good composure and was willing to try things. He’ll learn what he can get away with and what he can’t, but I like his game.”
