Sweden may have been knocked out of this year’s World Junior Championships in the quarter finals, but their talent was still incredibly noticeable throughout the round robin portion of the tournament —specifically when it came to defenseman Rasmus Sandin and goaltender Samuel Ersson.
Both Sandin and Ersson put on stellar performances throughout the five games played. Sandin was among the top point-producing defenseman, recording two goals and two assists, while Ersson racked up a .922 SVS%, making a total of 107 saves on 116 shots. Both players were also named ”Player of the Game” — Sandin in Sweden’s 4-1 win against Kazakhstan, and Ersson in their 5-4 win against USA and 2-0 loss against Switzerland. Ersson even received the honor of being selected as one of Sweden’s top three players of the tournament.
